H is for Hockey

I love Hockey. It is one of my favourite sports in the world. I like hockey because it is awesomely fun. I think everyone should try playing hockey.

Hockey is a sport played all over the world. Even in the BoldWinter Olympics! Hockey is a sport that includes a lot of skating. If you can't skate then the game will be more difficult, but practise makes perfect. In the game of hockey your team wins by scoring the most goals. Hockey is a popular sport.

How you play hockey
In hockey you need special equipment so that it's harder for you to get hurt. Some examples of the equipment are: helmet, neck guard, gloves, mouth guard, elbow guards, etc.
Hockey games can be from 30 minutes to 1.5 hours long. On the ice there are 2-4 referees and 5 players+ 1 goalie per team.
Penalties are called by one of the referees if a player does something that they shouldn't do. Some examples of penalties are: Tripping, slashing (when you hit a player with your stick), fighting (can only be done by certain age groups), and a whole lot more. If you get a penalty you have to sit in the penalty box for a certain amount of time. most penalties are 2 minutes, but they can also be 4, 5, 7, or even 10 minutes. 10 minute penalties usually make you get kicked out of the game and your teammate would sit a 2 or 5 minute penalty. If you get kicked out of the game then you can be usually be suspended for 1-3 games. If you are very lucky then you won't get suspended. A suspension means that you can't participate in a certain number of hockey games. One of the most common ways to get suspended is hitting from behind (that is when you body check somebody on the other team from behind them).
My life lesson is that you really should try hockey, it's awesome.
